An Overland Adventure tour of the North Maine Woods with the only permitted overland guide service, Ridgeback Guide Service. We will be traversing the beautiful North Maine Woods in search of incredible scenery, historical sites, and Maine’s wildlife. This is an overlander’s dream adventure in northern Maine. We will visit some historical sites along the way. A stop at the Katahdin Iron Works, the ruins of two blast furnaces from the 1800s. The B52 crash site on Elephant Mountain; the site of a military plane crash in 1963. A hike to visit the ghost trains, two 100 Ton steam engine locomotives in the middle of the wilds of Maine. Let us guide you on a fun-filled adventure to the North Maine Woods with beautiful scenery, historical sites, and wonderful campsites.
This trip is perfect for Vans, Full-size trucks, and Truck campers.

Required Equipment:
- GMRS Radio
- Overland Camping Vehicle setup (4 Wheel Camper, Go Fast Camper, RTT, ground tent set up)
- Food, Fuel, and Camping Gear
- Hiking shoes and appropriate Clothing
- Extra 10 gals of fuel in Jerry cans
- Cash for NMW entry and camping fees (fees are per person)

Trail Rating Scale
GREEN: Green level trails are easier type trails but are not just logging roads. They offer challenges to stock vehicles and new drivers. Damage can happen but is not likely.
Vehicle Requirements
Green Trail Rides (stock friendly) Minimum requirements: -4X4 Street legal vehicle with insurance -Good tires (All Terrains or Mud Terrains preferred) -Full size spare tire -Radio Communications (we use GMRS Radios) -Recovery points Front and Rear -Tire deflator for airing down -First Aid Kit appropriately sized for your vehicle and passengers. -Appropriate Clothing and footwear for the conditions Recommended for Green Rides: -Rock Sliders -30-inch All Terrain or Mud Terrain Tires -Vehicle Recovery Equipment -Kinetic rope -Tree saver strap -Shackles (multiple) -Pulley block -Winch line extension -Gloves -Fire Extinguisher -On Board Air set up for Tire inflation
